Investment Pieces - theory

A girl can't live on fast-fashion knock-offs alone....it's true. Every once in a while, you really have to force yourself to find that one special investment piece that will elevate your wardrobe and allow for a little "fudging" on the other stuff. While I live for a good bargain, a head-to-toe discount ensemble can you leave you feeling....well, cheap.

But, these obviously are not impulse purchases. It takes serious focus, dedication, planning and study. Sounds crazy, I know, but I like to think it's like playing the stock market - you research, you ask questions, you watch and, most importantly, you save your pennies for the day you make your move with confidence. When you're a girl on a budget, it's what you have to do.

Theory is a great line for just this type of thing....Not crazy expensive, they offer really well-made clothes that are simple and elegant and thus offer a wide range of uses. Meaning, you can wear it for years and thus justify a bigger price tag.

Here a few choice Theory outfits for Fall 2008 courtesy of Saks....

To me, this is a quintessential Theory ensemble. Classic and timeless.

Helene Coat ($545)
Clean lines...high collar - such a great coat!

Bobbie Knit Cardigan ($355) and Vanette Cupid Pants ($235)
So youthful and fun, but still office-appropriate and chic.

Magrite Mini Dress ($395)
I love this dress even though it's a little too short for me! Of course, paired with opaque tights I may feel a little more comfortable....
